SUPPORT AND PROTECTION:

  • File for unemployment (open now to or service industry, self employed, and gig workers): APPLY HERE
  • Chicago Small Business Resiliency Fund : APPLY HERE
  • PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM~   
    • SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities.
    • Apply through any SBA 7(a) lender, or through any federally insured depository institution, federally insured credit union, and Farm Credit Institution that is participating. Other regulating lenders will be available once approved and enrolled. Consult with a local lender if you have questions. This program will be available through June 30th. 
  • Arts Work Fund Emergency Relief Fund (for organizations): APPLY HERE

  • Other AID from the Care Act: 
    • The IRS postponed to July 15, 2020 the due date for both filing an income tax return and for making income tax payments originally due April 15, 2020.
    • The deadline for making 2019 IRA contributions has also been extended until July 15, 2020.  
    • Anyone who filed their 2019 taxes will be receiving an automatic check in their bank account. The rebate amounts are $1,200 for individuals and $2,400 for married joint filers, with an additional $500 for each qualifying child under age 17.
    • Anyone who takes money out of their retirement plan due to quarantine, business closure, layoff, or reduced hours will not have to pay a 10% penalty, and if they pay the money back within three years, it won't be taxed. 
    • Individuals who claim the standard deduction may also claim a new above-the-line deduction up to $300 for cash contributions made in 2020 to certain charities.
    • Payments (principal and interest) on federal student loans are suspended through September 30, 2020 without penalty. Interest will not accrue during the suspension.
